Teacher candidates will foster a caring and professional relationship with students that focus on acceptance and their educational needs. (National and state standards).

Artifact 1: Class Website

Over the summer, I created a class website for my students.  This website is a way for me to communicate with the students and the parents outside of the classroom.  By using my class website as an artifact for Teaching Dispositions (DM 6), I am showing that I understand that having a relationship with my students as well as their family is key to helping them learn and grow throughout the school year.  My class website provides the student and their family with information about what is going on in our classroom each week, as well as useful websites that they can link to from the class blog.  The website links on the blog provide the students with many links that will help them to learn and to gain a deeper understanding of the curriculum that will be taught in our classroom.  By providing them with this information, I am giving them with the opportunity to extend the learning that we are doing in the classroom into their homes.

Artifact 2: Scaffolding to Student Needs

I created this Power Point presentation in my Technology for Educators class at Dixie State College during summer semester 2009. This artifact provides evidence of Teaching Dispositions (DM6), because it demonstrates how my knowledge and skills in curriculum design, instruction, and technology can produce student learning. This Power Point presentation shows that I am interested in finding a variety of ways for my students to learn. Each student in my classroom will have different needs that will I will need to scaffold my teaching to in order to provide them with the best education possible within my classroom. For example, by taking the time to learn about different teaching methods, I am showing that I will foster a caring and professional relationship with my students and focus on acceptance and on their individual educational needs. I believe that this is a strong artifact that demonstrates my ability to create effective and meaningful instruction for all my students.
